Can Tablets replace Laptops in the long run with its better portability and battery life?

Tablets are recently becoming more and more powerful, with a plethora of features baked into it. The recent Apple iPad Pro and Microsoft Surface Pro devices possess an enormous processing power in a much compact form factor when compared to conventional laptops or desktops. Let's find out whether tablets can outperform desktops or laptops in today's scenario. To find out the answer to this question, we shall first evaluate the advantages of both these devices. 

Advantages of Tablets

The main advantages of tablets are they are portable, compact, and handy. Since tablets are sleek and portable, they are easy to carry, and they provide excellent battery life when compared to laptops. Usually, laptops provide 4 to 5 hours of battery life, whereas tablets can easily last for up to 10 hours on a single charge. Tablets also provide support for touch inputs, and some tablets even provide additional stylus and detachable keyboard support for increased productivity. Tablets have better connectivity options with support for cellular networks like LTE, whereas laptops need to rely on Wi-Fi or ethernet connection for the internet. 

Advantages of Laptops

The main advantage of laptops is their sheer processing power. Desktops and high-end laptops can easily handle anything you throw at it without breaking a sweat. Laptops also have larger displays, which can be very much useful for editing and other professional works. Since laptops come with a dedicated keyboard and trackpads, it is much more convenient to create a document or email when compared to tying on a virtual keyboard in tablets. Laptops have better input port selections and ample built-in storage, which can be very much useful for creators and professionals. Since Windows, Mac, and other desktop OS, are in existence for a much longer time when compared to tablets, they have a significantly refined and wider range of software and tools.  

Can tablets replace laptops? 

Now coming to our question, laptops offer a better value when compared to tablets, and it may take some time to change this proportion. Times are changing quickly, and tablets are the potential replacement for the laptops but, considering the current choices, it is difficult to recommend a tablet in the place of a laptop or desktop.
