Meet life sized animals at your home with Google 3D AR animals

Google at I/O 2019 introduced 3D AR animals in the search results. At the time of launch, Google has limited it to a handful of animals. Google AR animal allows users to view the animals in 3D in their own space. Recently, Google had added support for a few more animals to watch in 3D. Let's find out the list of animals and steps to watch it 3D.

List of animals you can watch in 3D using Google search

These are the list of animals you can currently watch in 3D in Google search.

Step by step procedure to watch these animals in 3D

  1. Open the chrome browser on your smartphone.
  2. Now search any animal from the above list. For example, type panda in the search bar.
  3. Now the result page for panda will appear. Scroll down and click view in 3D.
  4. Now you can watch the panda in 3D in a white space.
  5. If you want to view the animal in your own space, click view in your space.
  6. Now Google will ask to provide permission to access your media. Click allow to continue.
  7. The screen will ask you to point your phone downwards to the ground and to move your phone around for better blending of the animal to your surroundings.
  8. Now you can view the panda in 3D at your own space. You can also move around the panda using your finger and zoom in or zoom out the animal. 

You can follow the same steps to view any of the supported animals in 3D. 

 To view AR animals in Google Search, you’ll need:

  • Android smartphone/ tablet running Android 7.0 or higher with pre-installed Google Play Store
  • iPhone/iPad running iOS 11.0 or higher

You can view the animals in 3D in white space from any device which satisfies the above requirement. Your smartphone must support AR Core to view the animals in your own space. You can check whether your device is compatible by clicking here.
